ROCK BAND INSTRUMENTS MAINTENANCE TIPS!

Ok so more and more people are getting Rock Band sudah. There's probably at least FOUR people in Brunei that own it now (for PS3). Anyhow, if you didn't already know, the first batch of the Rock Band bundle (and probably the ones we own) could POSSIBLY be faulty out of the box. It depends on your luck lah. Quiet a few people have experienced this in the US. But either way, faulty or not, it's a good idea to at least check and do some PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE so that your instruments will not break in the future.

If you go to the Rock Band forums, you'll see lots of people having problems like broken downstrum, broken bass pedal, broken drums etc etc.

So here are some tips to fix or mod your Rock Band peripherals if you ever run into any problems. They will also increase performance and make your instruments last longer.

To fix and/or make your Guitar downstrum/upstrum more responsive, watch this video:

And this one is to prevent the metal contacts in the strumbar from breaking.

For a more detailed look at what the inside of the guitar looks like, click here.

To fix a broken whammy bar, watch this video.

To make your drums quieter, less noisy ("CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK") and more responsive, you can try this mod. If you're too cheap to get proper drum mutes, do what i do and just buy 4 cheap mousepads, cut them into circles and doublesided tape them to the drums.

Finally, it's VERY advisable to reinforce your drum pedal with THIS or something similar. Because apparently the drum pedal is quite fragile and if you're too rough with it, it WILL break into two sooner or later, like this:

But if cannot get a hold of one of those metal plates, and if it ever DOES break, you can try fixing it using butter knives! Like this:

It will look like shit though. Haha.

There's actually lots of other different types of mods you can do for the instruments. Check out the Rock Band forums for more.

Use a two part epoxy. To repair the petal. Some epoxys are rated for 3500lb/in^2. That is stronger the petal plastic.

Use the epoxy to glue the break back together. Then use as much as you can on the back to fill in the cavities on the back around the break.

That will strengthen the pedal against future breaks in the same area.
