BURNOUT PARADISE - PS3 VS 360

Burnout Paradise is already available at ETA for both PS3 and 360. But which one to buy if you have both a PS3 and a 360???

I bought the PS3 version because the game was made with the PS3 as the lead platform (the 360 version is a port). And apparently the PS3 version is better than the 360 version!

From an IGN review:

Burnout Paradise is an amazing technical feat and looks great on both systems. The absence of loading screens, the rock solid framerate, the detail on car models, and the sheer speed at which everything is rendered is a stunning achievement. That being said, there are some small but noticeable differences that make the PS3 the clear choice in this category. You'll notice that while colors seem a little more subdued on the PS3 (we were playing with identical screen brightness settings), there is generally a bit more detail in the environments, especially in town with lots of objects being rendered in a comparatively small area.

Likewise, the draw distance is a little cleaner and more distinct in the PS3 version. The 360 version also has a fair amount of pop-in, especially with distant objects. I also found cars in traffic would sometimes add-in a last layer of texture detail as I got closer to them in the 360 version. There's some pop-in in the PS3 version too, but generally speaking, it's much less noticeable, restricted to a tree or some bushes in the background. The PS3 had the slight edge in lighting effects in as well, with some interesting refraction or glint happening at almost all times on your car model, while the 360's lighting seems a little less pronounced.

While both versions of the game run at rock solid framerates, it did seem like the PS3's was a little bit faster, running silky smooth at high speeds. The 360 version is an admirable production but the framerate does seem slightly slower than the PS3's, with an occasional hitch at high speeds. This isn't something to be too concerned about as both version look and feel great at top speed, and most people probably won't ever see a difference unless switching back and forth on an HD monitor. Also, some people may actually prefer the overall look of the 360 version because colors seem to pop a little more brightly from the screen, but otherwise, the game is just a bit more detailed, smoother, and better lit on the PS3. Both versions really do look great, but the edge has to go to the PS3 here.

Also, the people in the neogaf forums all agree that the PS3 version is the superior version.

Absolutely, the PS3 version is pretty much accepted around here as the superior version, so it's not surprise that it's more popular on GAF.

By the way, BOTH versions (PS3 and 360) have achievements, if you're an achievement whore. The only thing the PS3 version DOESN'T have is custom soundtracks.

Otherwise, PS3 has the better version of Burnout Paradise, if you need to absolutely know which one is superior. Either way, whichever version pun, bali tia! It's fucking awesome! Played with Munky_Gaban just now and a bunch of other players from US, 8 players. NO LAG AT ALL!!

no lah. just bought the PS3 one. i dont have xbox live gold so no point buying 360 version since since i wont be able to go online with it. and malas ku kan bayar untuk go online. heheheh :P

good thing PS3 online is free!

shiok collecting pictures of people i takedown in the game. hahaha.

if the other people has a PS eye, and then you takedown their car, it takes a picture of them and then you can keep their picture as a collection of people you killed. haha

still games yg ku mau still arah X360 and half is on PS3

i can see all the potential of wat PS3 has done but dat vibe 2 me is already gone n shifted to da X360

Burnout, a good game but it now feels shifted to NFS-ish type of game esp. free roaming.....

the free roaming is actually pretty nice to have. in NFS, i HATED the free roaming. buang masa saja. but in burnout paradise, you actually have things to do while in free roam. and almost every traffic light junction ada race events. so you're never too far away from starting a race if you want to.

LOTS of things to discover, lots of places to go to. and every place has a purpose. there is no useless areas in the game at all. the game world is HUGE. everywhere i go, there's ALWAYS something new to do or discover.

trying to find all the super jumps and billboards and crash gates now. it will take a while. got so many!

OH and the showtime mode, hahahahaha, damn fun. i think it's better than the old crash mode.

inda rugi buying this game.

My xp on burnout paradise for x360 is awesome, sama lah siuknya mcm the ps3 I believe, hehe

If u bought for either systems it will still be gr8

Worth buying!

The reason y I bought the 360 version was bcos aku Ada live vision cam n wireless headset ready Sudah for the 360 to xp online for the game

If I were to buy the ps3 version terpsksa tv ku beli cam n headset lagi to xp it

FYI no lags here as well....

im thinking of buying a bluetooth headset. the jabra 125. or maybe jabra 135. even though i already have a socom headset and PS eye. hehehe. should be around $55 or $65 i think at deejay.

(125 is the one that comes with US warhawk. 135 comes with EUROPE warhawk).

but so far from my experience, inda banyak jua orang cakap while playing burnout paradise. but that time masa main with munky_gaban, ada jua lah cakap cakap with this one US guy when setting up the freeburn challenges.

i think munky_gaban has some pictures of me giving him the finger. ahahaha. more people need to play this game with a camera

btw, more info bout PS3 version:

"Two more things about the PS3 version that may already be known but whatever:

One, it does have in-game XMB for checking messages. Pause, go to Paradise City Online, hit triangle. (I've quit out of the game twice already trying to answer messages, so I'm glad I found this.)

Also, I heard DJ Atomica make reference to "exporting mugshots to the XMB", and sure enough, you can hit "Export" over any picture the game saves (pause, Paradise City Online, "The Lineup"), and it goes to your XMB. Then you can do whatever you want with it, like copy it over to a memory card and get it online."

i like paradise better than revenge. revenge, i didnt really like.

paradise is just as good as takedown, which i thought was the best burnout game out of all of them.

i used to be ranked 400+ on xbox live in burnout 3 takedown hehe :P
