GAMERTAG DELETED?

Recently ran into the same problem grog did a while back. My gamertag ter-delete and was having a very very hard time trying to retrieve it. But i finally got it back!

Been trying for the past 2 days now and finally got it back. Still had all my save and achievements. Whew.

But for those 2 days, macam kan mati men-try retrieve. Stupid xbox live keeps saying "xbox live sign up is not available" every time i try retrieving.

I put in my gamertag, then i put in my hotmail email and password, then it tries downloading the gametag profile. And this is when it's always saying "xbox live sign up is not available" halfway through the download. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Sampai i gave up trying.

But then i tried again, but this time i did something different.

So if any of you ever have any trouble trying to retrieve your deleted gamertag, do this:

1. Put in your gamertag you want to retrieve.
2. Put in your hotmail email and pass (or whatever it is it asks for)
3. Accept the terms and conditions thing.

And now your gamertag should be downloading.

At this point in time, you MIGHT see some notifications popping up as the profile is downloading. Like "GROG35 is online" or "LOCO is online" etc etc.

As soon as you see any friend notifications, PRESS THE XBOX GUIDE BUTTON ON YOUR CONTROLLER!!!!

This should bring up the xbox guide with the usual send message, mute player, chat invite etc etc etc screen.

Now just leave it like that! Do not exit this screen.

Your gamertag should fully download now and will not suddenly stop halfway and show you that stupid "xbox live sign up is not available" thing.

And now you have your xbox live gamertag back!

This worked for me on the first try. Maybe it might work for you if you ever run into the same problem!
